HMP Kilmarnock - Supporting continuity through operational transition

As a long-standing technology partner to HMP Kilmarnock, Unilink has provided the prison’s critical digital services for many years, supporting payments, self-service kiosks, communications, biometrics, and custodial management systems.

In March 2024, responsibility for the management and operation of HMP Kilmarnock transferred from the private sector to the Scottish Prison Service (SPS). While governance and operational ownership changed, continuity of service remained essential.

Working closely with SPS, Unilink provided experienced technical and operational support throughout the transition, helping to ensure critical systems remained available and reliable before, during, and after the changeover.

As a result, services remained stable throughout the transition, enabling staff and prisoners to continue accessing the systems they relied upon every day, while supporting SPS in the successful assumption of operational responsibility.

The project demonstrates the value of experienced delivery partners in highly regulated environments, where continuity, stability, and operational confidence are critical whenever responsibilities change.

Transitions in justice environments demand more than technology - they require trusted partners with proven custodial expertise. Find out how Unilink helps prison operators and justice agencies modernise critical services while maintaining security, continuity, and operational stability.
