Unilink at CJM 2016

Unilink is exhibiting at Criminal Justice Management Conference 2016 on Wednesday 21st September at QEII Centre, London.

We also will be hosting a seminar at 14:00 – 15:00.

The title is Prison Reform – How can Technology Help Drive Rehabilitation? and our speakers are:

Robin Knowles  – Founder and CEO of Digital Leaders
Dr. Victoria Knight, Senior Research Fellow, De Montfort University
Dr. Dominic Pearson, Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychology, University of Portsmouth
Ian Bickers – Governor; HMP Wandsworth

Between £9bn and £11bn is the cost of reoffending that British society is paying on a yearly basis. Criminal justice experts are taking measures to tackle the issue and the government has announced the biggest shakeup of prisons since Victorian times. Urgent modernisation of the prison estate is needed. Technology is critical for everyone’s life today. The life of prisoners should be no different as when they join the community again, they have to be equipped with the essential ICT, literacy and numeracy skills in order to reintegrate and not opt for reoffending.

This session brings together a group of experts in criminal justice and education to discuss the impact technology can have in prison reform and rehabilitation.

  • Technology is crucial today for life in and out of prison
  • Education enabled by technology can improve the life chances of prisoners
  • Technology is promoting rehabilitation
  • Prevention of reoffending saves taxpayers’ money and creates better society
