At Unilink, we are dedicated to supporting meaningful connections between prisoners and their families, recognizing the invaluable impact that consistent communication has on rehabilitation and overall well-being. We deeply appreciate the time families have taken to share their experiences in the survey done by Unseen Victims and used for their Report Part 2 : Prison Communications, published recently. This feedback is also helping us understand better both the benefits and the challenges, families are facing, particularly around the costs associated with communication services.
We acknowledge the financial strain highlighted by many families, and we are committed to addressing this concern with transparency and empathy. Our eMates services, designed specifically to meet the security and reliability needs of prison facilities, allow families to send secure messages at an affordable rate across UK and Australian prisons. The security measures integrated into our services not only protect the integrity of communications but are essential for maintaining compliance with legal standards—a requirement that sets these services apart from conventional email systems.
We understand that every family’s budget is unique, and communication costs can be significant, particularly for those facing other expenses related to incarceration. This is why we are actively exploring options to make our services more accessible, such as offering discounts, free message opportunities through NGOs, and donating to charities that support family connections. We have also invested in innovations like our AIM (Alert. Intervene. Monitor) app, designed to support individuals in vulnerable situations, underscoring our commitment to ethical standards and service quality.
Unilink is honoured by the feedback from users who view our service as a lifeline. As we continue working with partner organizations and listening to family feedback, we are optimistic about building a collaborative approach to make essential communication more accessible to all. Together, we can ensure that family connections remain strong, even in challenging times. Thank you for your support and engagement as we strive to support the well-being of prisoners and their loved ones.
